HEAD CHEF

Take that long awaited leap out of the crazy long hours and late night work and come down to picturesque Queenscliff (only 30 minutes from Geelong) to join a fun, friendly team within a growing company.

About us:

Searoad Ferries, Australia’s favourite car and passenger ferry, crosses Melbourne’s Port Phillip Bay, between Sorrento and Queenscliff.  The ferry crossing connects the Great Ocean Road to the Mornington Peninsula and further on to Phillip Island.  The 40 minute crossing is a great way to save time and road miles and offers our passengers a unique experience.

Our Food & Beverage team caters for all of Searoad Ferries outlets including:

– The RORO Beach Cafe that offers a la carte breakfast & lunch daily using the best seasonal local produce from both sides of the bay

– The “On the Go” catering for the onboard ferry cafes and Pier kiosk including, sandwiches, wraps, pies, cakes & slices

Onboard Functions that range from our weekly high teas & monthly grazing table style Captains Lunches through to private charter cocktail functions for up to 400 people

About the position:

– Huge opportunity for growth within the role with two state of the art ferry terminals scheduled to begin construction by 2020 with multiple food outlets

– Experience as a Head Chef preferred, however this could be a stepping stone for an experienced Sous Chef wanting to take the leap into a Head Chefs role

– This position requires you to be flexible with the ability to work weekends & public holidays, however we do not believe in double shifts or overly long days and weeks

– We have some exciting afternoon and evening cruises planned, however these are shared evenly throughout the year and team

Who we are looking for:

– A strong leader able to lead a team of 6-10 kitchen staff. We currently have a well oiled team needing some assistance and support with the fast paced work load

– A “can-do” attitude is a must with hands on kitchen work required and a team player that can work with our variety of operation teams from crew members to office staff and senior management

–  High volume a la carte and large function experience are a must, with a knowledge of local produce desired

– Well developed time management skills with the ability to roster, cost menus and communicate with the management team as required

If you feel you have the relevant skills & the positive attitude we seek, then put together a brief cover letter outlining your experience & what you can add to our team.

If you want to be a part of the fantastic beach lifestyle we have, apply now! Successful candidates will be contacted within 7 days of application.
