Phillip Island is known for it's 'fairy' penguins, Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, wildlife viewing, beaches and surf breaks. There is a fine array of restaurants and cafes dotted around the island and is a two hour drive from the ferry terminal in Sorrento. The Phillip Island Nature Park offers nightly viewing of the penguins as they waddle up the beach returning to their burrows. Located in Western Port Bay, Phillip Island is connected to the mainland by a bridge and by foot passenger ferry service - Western Port Ferries. Sail to Cowes for the day from the Mornington Peninsula.
Neighbouring island - French Island - is a hidden destination with a unique lifestyle and natural beauty. French Island is off the grid, 2/3rds National Park and home to only 100 residents. It has one of the largest Koala populations in Victoria and an abundance of wildlife. Naturaliste Tours operates small group island tours in a 4WD vehicle assessing unique spots. A great day trip!

Excellent!! Ferry very clean including restrooms. Cafe on board with adequate choices. Very, very enjoyable sitting on deck cruising across the bay. Queenscliff Terminal a pleasant place to wait to board. Must see the video showing in the little side room - it's awesome.
