Within this dynamic landscape, the Searoad Hospitality Team is dedicated to providing customer experiences through premium onboard and onshore dining options that enhance our ferry operations. Our state-of-the-art Ferry Terminals include multiple hospitality spaces—restaurants, passenger lounges, bars and function spaces—offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, grab-and-go food options, conferences, private functions, and external catering. The group also manages short-term rental accommodation, and external catering services.

About The Role:

We are seeking friendly, well-presented and self-motivated individuals with a passion for customer service to deliver memorable experiences across various settings - including our bustling restaurants - ONDA Sorrento and TARRA Queenscliff, bars, kiosks, conference and event spaces, and aboard the iconic Queenscliff-Sorrento ferry.  

What you'll be doing:

  • Greeting and serving customers, providing menu information
  • Taking orders and using point of sale systems
  • Providing bar service / wine & beer pairings and making coffees
  • Maintaining clean customer facilities
  • Performing daily opening and closing procedures including cash and EFTPOS reconciliations
  • Answering incoming phone calls and entering reservations
  • Sales, e.g. menu specials and retail add-ons
  • Maintaining food and beverage cabinets including stock rotation
  • Basic food prep (e.g. when working aboard vessels and within kiosks)
  • Assisting with event operations set up

  • Current RSA certification or willingness to obtain it
  • Barista skills or eagerness to learn
  • Professional grooming and appearance

About the opportunity:

We're seeking an experienced senior hospitality leader to own and elevate all hospitality operations across our fleet and venues. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager - Hospitality Operations will lead a multi-disciplinary team of chefs, kitchen staff, front of house, and events professionals to deliver safe, compliant, commercially successful and customer-focussed hospitality experiences.

This is a high impact role combining strategic leadership, P&L accountability, and hands-on operational improvement across multiple sites.

What you'll do:

  • lead and develop a diverse hospitality team across vessel and shore operations — building a strong safety-first culture

  • own the P&L — budget setting, revenue targets, cost control and financial performance reporting

  • deliver operational excellence and compliance (food safety, licensing, RSA, workplace health and safety)

  • drive commercial growth through menu, activations, retail and events strategy in partnership with Marketing

  • implement technology and systems to improve efficiency (POS, rostering, inventory management, KPIs)

  • manage supplier and contract relationships to drive quality and value

  • lead continuous improvement projects that enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency

  • represent Hospitality in Leadership Team forums; translate strategy into operational plans and outcomes.

What we're looking for:

  • proven senior hospitality leadership in multi-site environments (minimum 5-7 years in leadership roles)

  • strong commercial acumen and P&L ownership with demonstrable results (revenue growth, cost control)

  • deep knowledge of food safety frameworks and regulatory compliance

  • experience managing mixed teams (kitchen, FOH, events) and shift/roster operations

  • track record of successful change and project management, including system rollouts

  • excellent stakeholder and supplier management skills with a collaborative leadership style

  • passion for creating excellent customer experiences and improving operational performance.

With 250+ team members and 38 years of trusted service, we combine safety-first operations with strong community connections and a proud regional presence.

As a leading tourism and transport operator, our group also includes Explore Australia / Naturaliste Tours (coach tours), Western Port Ferries (Crib Point–French Island/Phillip Island), and Wanderer Adventures — Wilsons Promontory Cruises. We own and operate multiple hospitality venues, including TARRA Restaurant (Queenscliff), ONDA (Sorrento), plus onboard and terminal kiosks.

We're investing in the future — modernising our fleet and shortly opening a state-of-the-art Sorrento terminal — making this an exciting time to join our finance function and contribute to growth, operational excellence, and community-focused service.

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our busy finance function in a part-time capacity. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll work closely with our team of Accountants, Payroll/Accounts Officers across several group entities, delivering weekly payroll processing, and supporting Department Managers and new employees with pre-onboarding/onboarding paperwork, and offboarding tasks.

This role is located onsite at our Queenscliff Head Office, and it is a requirement that the successful applicant work 24 hours per week on the set days of Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (start/finish times can be negotiated).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly payroll and related obligations for five entities

  • Liaise with department managers to ensure accurate and timely payroll submissions

  • Prepare onboarding packs and maintain new-starter documentation

  • Manage exits and maintain employee records across systems

  • Maintain confidential payroll and personnel records accurately

  • Assist with other payroll and finance-related tasks as required.

About You

  • Proven payroll experience in a similar role

  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills; able to work independently and with a team

  • Good knowledge of HR processes, Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards

  • Proficient in Office 365, experience with Microkeeper or similar payroll software highly regarded

  • Strong numeracy, literacy and professional communication skills

  • High level of discretion

  • Full Australian work rights and current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
